Report on the Restoration of Gardens
The report examines the history of gardens of the Çırağan Palace and Hotel Kempinski within the general perspective of Ottoman garden culture and offers models for their restoration. From 18th c. to 20th c., the site of the Palace housed a variety of gardens with differing characteristics. The restoration of the Palace grounds has the capacity to present this rich outlook and it has the potential to accommodate a wide range of “Ottoman garden” designs each presenting the charm of its era. Not only, the present state of the gardens of the Çırağan Palace and Kempinski Hotel grounds needs an urgent uplift and improvement; but as well, a good landscaping design and restoration project will additionally turn the gardens into an open air museum and a center of attraction.
