TESKOMB
Çankaya - Ankara
The competition brief of TESKOMB (Union of Credit and Guarantee Cooperatives for Tradesmen and Craftsmen of Turkey) calls for an office and guest house complex, conflicting with the narrow parcel and with codes designated for residential buildings. The resolution of this condition however promises a unique, urban building.
In this concept, the main decisions of the project are: 1. Common spaces: An open lobby which can be used as exhibition space. 2. The choice of vierendeel trusses for structural system. The conference hall – for the wide span obligations – is supported by at upper floors. This decision strengthens the idea of a column free lobby. 3. The guest house rooms are oriented within two rows, towards the park over the Göreme Street and to a quiet interspace within the building. 4. The height restrictions on the Cinnah Avenue is consumed to its fullest extent, the steel structure enables the connection of the fourth floor with the attic. The gained space is designed as open offices of the building.
