Terrace Villa
G.O.P. - Ankara
The renovated and extended villa is part of a terrace housing project dating from the 1970’s. The original housing project comprised of two rows of terraces on facing banks of a valley. Today many of the terraces are renovated, reflecting the various styles. The Terrace Villa is completely remodeled with an extension constructed at the earth filled back yard; increasing the floor area from 190m² to 320m². The extension was designed with a patio in-between, whereby the new rooms receive daylight and fresh air.
Travertine was used for re-cladding the entire exterior facade. The continuity between internal and external spaces is acquired with the installation of telescoping aluminum sliding doors on the ground floor. The gallery space where the clients’ collection of paintings will be exhibited, was designed by increasing the height of a former room.
While underfloor heating system and epoxy varnished exposed concrete floor finish were installed on the ground floor, a conventional heating system and wood parquet were utilized on the first floor. To create a contrast with the neutral material scheme of the house, epoxy painted bright colors were selected for the bathrooms.
