METU Undergraduate Students Dormitory

The new undergraduate dormitory is situated at the southern extension of the existing campus. The building is four stories above ground to conform with the height of neighboring buildings. The common spaces are located at the basement level which has a facade thanks to the level difference on the site. An existing monumental tree determines the basic layout of the building. The dorm rooms surround the preserved tree and define an entrance courtyard. The building will house 700 students. The rooms are organized as four student double suites with shared study room. The facade of the building is an outcome of room configuration, cantilevering of certain study rooms and further expression of common spaces on the facade.
