Middle East Technical University (METU) Northern Cyprus Campus is a major project in the field of administrative, academic, and physical planning, as well as urban design and architecture. The Cultural and Conference Center itself is centered around a top lit hall that transverses the building which will function as a space for exhibitions. From here different halls are accessible via foyer spaces designated to them. These halls include a 700 seat conference / music hall, a 200 seat auditorium, two 100 seat auditoriums and various size classrooms and meeting rooms. Special attention is given to the acoustic design of the main hall so that with the help of movable panels, required reverberation times can be achieved for a conference or a music event. On the exterior, the different volumes of the building are expressed in different types of stone cladding; whereas the foyer of the main hall and the cafe on the mezzanine level are finished with exposed concrete, overhangs and large glass surfaces, with brise-soleil.
