Mosque and Underground Parking
Bayrampaşa - İstanbul
The mosque, designed for 75 person, expresses a modern architectural language that reinterprets traditional spatial values in a contemporary form. Irregular façade openings filter natural light, while a clerestory band at the roof level enhances the illumination of the prayer hall. The ceiling is shaped with an inverted section, lending the interior a soft, fluid geometry. Oak panels engraved with Kufic calligraphy define key elements such as the entrance, railings, and selected openings, adding warmth and craftsmanship to the minimalist composition.
As part of a broader urban design intervention, that serves the neighborhood, the mosque is integrated with an underground car park for 120 vehicles, a city square, and a children’s playground. A gently sloping pedestrian route with universal standards connects Ulus Street and Öz Street, improving accessibility and linking the new public spaces. Together, the square, courtyard, and playground form a cohesive urban environment that enhances community interaction and spatial continuity.
