Alaçatı Süreyya and Muzaffer Baskıcı Mosque

Alaçatı Historical Bazaar Mosque which is a former church built in the 19th century, transformed to a mosque in the 20th century has been transformed, with the initiation of the Ministry of Tourism, into a museum in 2010. Therefor it was required to built a new mosque for Alaçatı. For that purpose the new mosque which is going to be constructed in the content of Alaçatı Historical Windmills Sculpture Park and Entrance Square Urban design project is planned and developed in an integrity with its surrounding composed of Bazaar, square, green zones and pedestrian ways. Mosque is located in a favourited spot in the entrance of Alaçatı district.
The mosque will facilitate 360 people indoors. A pool surrounds the mihrab wall and the reading area on the east facade will face the adjoining park. The courtyard is framed by a large eave and has two distinct areas for entry and outdoor prayer. The mosque is designed as a complex with its courtyard, ablution fountain, mortuary unit and housing unit for the imam.
