Kumluçiftlik Mosque

Gaziosmanpaşa - İstanbul

The Kumluçiftlik Mosque is designed to replace an existing structurally unsafe mosque in the densely built Gaziosmanpaşa District of Istanbul. The design offers a modern interpretation of Turkish-Ottoman mosque architecture, featuring a light-filled, airy interior hall and outdoor spaces for congregation that help organize the surrounding neighborhood and create a social focal point.

To optimize the limited parcel size, the mosque is arranged on two levels, accommodating a total of 227 worshippers. An elevated courtyard on the upper level provides access to the main prayer space, while the lower level houses additional prayer areas and complementary facilities. The two levels are connected by a gently sloping pedestrian ramp, designed according to universal access standards.
